My experience/ cases of note
Estate planning is not just about saving inheritance tax, it's about putting in place a structure which can help protect the family in lots of ways after you have died. Most people don't realise what can be done. Those with substantial estates will often leave the family with big tax problems; the children's inheritance might become vulnerable in the event of a future divorce; and if the surviving spouse needs long term care that can be a serious drain on the estate. But there are things that can be done to deal with these problems, and I spend a lot of time talking to clients and explaining the opportunities available to them. The tax planning strategies and asset protection mechanisms we provide have saved families an enormous amount of money over the years.
What I do when I'm not at work
Ever the optimist, I support Leeds United. Things can only get better - I've said that for a few years now.
