Would you know what to do?

As we get older most of us want to stay in our homes for as long as possible. But sometimes it can be a bit of a struggle.Things which were once straightforward can become difficult – even things like making meals, getting up the stairs or looking after the money side of things.

But what if there was an emergency? What if you, or an elderly parent living alone, had a fall and needed to be cared for straightaway? Who would we turn to? Who can provide the help that is needed? We all know people who might find themselves in a situation like this. It’s worrying. The good news is that there is a lot of help out there, but it’s not always easy to find. And certainly, if you yourself are working full time or have other commitments the whole process of finding appropriate help for a parent or relative can be very stressful and time consuming. This was certainly the experience of George Davies Partner Tony Hall whose mother had a fall at home a couple of years ago and couldn’t be left alone. He and his siblings had to deal with the situation. And they had to deal with it there and then. It was very stressful. They didn’t know who to turn to for help or what options were available for their mother.

It would have been a great help to Tony and his family if someone had been able to guide them on what should be done, what care was available and who they should contact.

And that is the purpose of the George Davies Helping Hand Care Directory - to point you in the right direction so that you can get the help you need when you need it. It is full of useful contacts and there is a FREE helpline so there will always be someone you can turn to for help.

The Directory covers: help with staying at home; caring for someone else; finding accommodation; benefits; finances; related legal issues; and planning what will happen in the event of death. To receive your free copy of the Directory please call 0161 234 8870 or contact Zahra Siddiqui for further details.
