New recruits for George Davies

Leading Manchester law firm George Davies has recruited construction and commercial litigation solicitor Kelvin Parry from the Liverpool office of Halliwells. Kelvin, who spent 24 years working in the construction, engineering and energy sectors and has a number of engineering qualifications, joined Halliwells in 2005 as a trainee solicitor

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2007 Kelvin has specialised in mediations and adjudications in the construction arena, disputes in the Technical Construction Court, defamation matters and general commercial litigation matters.

Partner Anne Fairhurst, who heads up the Property and Projects team at George Davies commented: "We have a strong reputation in the non-contentious construction arena with Associate Catherine Kay advising a number of Public and Private Sector clients on large scale developments. Kelvin's arrival will allow us to increase our presence in the contentious construction sector and his past experience will prove invaluable in interpreting technical construction documents."

Kelvin commented “I am pleased to return to Manchester and look forward to renewing my links with Manchester business professionals.”

Also joining George Davies this month is Slovakian national Svetozar Pavlovic, who has joined the Sports team at George Davies as part of his Masters Degree in International Sports Law which he is studying for at the University of Madrid.

Svetozar played youth football for Inter Bratislava before putting his footballing career on the back burner to concentrate on his studies. Whilst studying he continued playing football at a lower level for an Austrian team before transferring his skills to the Futsal League (a 5-a-side indoor football game) which saw him compete for his country in the Futsal World Cup in 2005 in Spain.

Svetozar is now studying at the University of Madrid for his Masters in International Sports Law and will spend four months with George Davies gaining vital experience with the Sports team.

Managing Partner Mark Hovell, who heads the sports Team commented: "Sports Law is a growing area and a good knowledge of International sports law is vital as many sports have domestic and international governing bodies. Svetosar will spend time over the next four months shadowing the team on a variety of matters, including my work with the Court of Arbitration of Sport and Colin Murdock's role on the FA Disciplinary Panel."
