George Davies lawyers advise on ESSA Academy

Real estate and finance partner Paul Bibby, construction law specialist Catherine Kay and solicitor Charlie Yates, all of leading Manchester law firm George Davies, advised the Essa Foundation on a new build £9million academy school to be constructed in Bolton

The Essa Academy in Great Lever, Bolton officially opened its doors as the first of the new type specialist, state-funded independent academy. The Academy replaced the former Hayward School and is jointly sponsored by Cohens Chemist and Bolton Council.

The academy, which currently occupies the Hayward School site is set to move into a newly constructed state of the art school which is set to complete in Autumn 2011. The new build will be a mix of two and three storeys, with a courtyard and covered external space and will feature specialist science, performance and sports facilities and modern IT equipment.

Catherine commented: “We are delighted to have worked with the Essa Academy on this project. This continues our role of advising on key education projects in Bolton, having advised Bolton College last year on its relocation to a new build £70million campus.

“This is a strong public private partnership. Construction works have started and we look forward to the opening of the new academy estate next year which shall be a lasting legacy for the area.”
