George Davies advise on award winning project

The Public Sector team at leading Manchester law firm George Davies advised Salford PCT on its flagship LIFT programme which has now gone on to be nationally recognised at the annual LIFT awards dinner in London.

LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) is a national Government initiative which aims to provide enhanced healthcare services more locally by building state of the art large premises which are then leased to various healthcare professionals such as GPs, pharmacies, dentists, opticians and midwives.

The annual awards, which are now in their third year, see around 600 key figures of the LIFT industry gathering to celebrate LIFT's tremendous successes.

The Salford PCT Lift programme, which has seen new state of the art multi million pound LIFT centres constructed in Eccles, Pendleton and Walkden sees Salford PCT and Salford City Council working together to operate the three centres. In judging this project as the winner of the Transforming Service Delivery award, the judges highlighted "....the joint management approach which has created a closer working relationship between the PCT and the local authority".

Louise Robinson, an Associate in the Public Sector team at George Davies commented "It is fantastic to see Salford rewarded for this project. It has been a huge transformation to the way NHS and other public services are delivered in Salford; the Eccles Gateway building even houses the town's library in addition to offering numerous healthcare services. We have also been heavily involved in one of the other LIFT projects that was shortlisted for this award, namely the Oldham LIFT programme where we have been advising GP practices on their move to new LIFT centres."
